Jacqueline Fernandez hails from Manama in Bahrain. She was raised in a multiethnic household. Her father Elroy Fernandez is originally from Sri Lanka (Sinhalese - Catholic)and her mother Kim is Malaysian. Jacqueline is the youngest of two siblings and has an older brother. In the 80s, her parents fled to Bahrain in protest against the civil war on Sri Lanka. In the end, she was both born and raised in the country. After finishing high school in Bahrain she was awarded a Scholarship to the University of Sydney to pursue a Media and Communications Degree in Sydney, Australia. She was also a student at the Berlitz School of Languages, which allowed her to improve her French, Arabic and Spanish. She was also crowned Miss Sri Lanka 2006 for Miss Universe 2006 on March 6th of 2006, and then was a contestant at Miss Universe 2006. After her victory in 2006, Miss Sri Lanka win, Padukone stepped into the world of television and hosted a show about Sri Lankan Business named Lanka Business Report. Padukone, the daughter of the badminton player Prakash Padukone, was born in Copenhagen and grew up in Bangalore. As a teenager she competed in badminton at national level championships but left her career in the sport to become a fashion model. Padukone comes from Mangalore and her mother language is Konkani. Padukone is located within the Kundapura Taluk located in Udupi in Karnataka State in India, is where her ancestry is derived from. Prakash Padukone is her father and a former badminton star of international fame. Her mother is an agent for travel.
